Les Miserables at Queen Elizabeth Theatre

From the moment of its inception in the 1980s, Les Misérables has gone from an only-local theater classic produced in Paris, France to one of the most highly-awarded and fan favorite shows in the world. Over the previous 40 years that the musical has been ongoing, Les Misérables has been produced in 22 different languages, in 53 countries, and has been met with applause and standing ovations worldwide.

In March, the musical’s tour arrives in a new location in Vancouver, where the celebrated musical will be held in Queen Elizabeth Theatre on Thursday 19th March 2026. Queen Elizabeth Theatre was masterfully built and prepared as the premier entertainment venue of Vancouver, accommodating a well-crafted stage and seating setup that is sizeable enough to hold a play of this level, while also having adequate services that can be found in the theater.

The show is centered on the tale of Jean Valjean, a parolee distressingly searching for a second chance after he gets away from the chain gang. His entire tale, and the relationships he builds along the way, are performed with everything lyricized from the start to the finish of the play. The West End musical being sung from start to finish is a unique characteristic that the show has over other known Broadway plays, and is the main cause why each minute of the play doesn’t miss a beat in in every phrase or note performed.

It's no wonder that due to this manner, Les Misérables is also overflowing with unforgettable ballads and anthems. Interestingly, in the face of the myriad of numbers that can be watched in Les Mis, every single cast member in the stage adaptation is given their own spotlight, with each individual performance given as much emotional depth as the rest. Neither theatergoers nor film viewers of Les Mis can forget Fantine’s “I Dreamed A Dream”, which brings with it a heavy heart and has been covered without end by acclaimed artists in contemporary TV. “Bring Him Home” also intensely closes out the conflict in our beloved characters, subtly showing us the redemption of Jean Valjean’s character in a single totally spectacular song.
