A secret affair in the middle of a bustling city, Moulin Rouge! The Musical shares with us a classical tale of romance in the equally passionate city of Paris, France. At the center of Montmartre, Christian, a passionate American writer who moves in Montmartre with nothing but hope in his heart, meets the would-be love of his life and performer, Satine, in the nightclub Moulin Rouge. Christian and Satine then struggle to keep their love alive against all odds, as another affluent patron sets his eyes on Satine as his muse.

Being a stage adaptation that was created more than a decade after the 2001 movie, this Broadway play's first hurdle was to present an unfamiliar setting to a new generation. The masterful approach of the team, just like the 2001 movie, was to tell the tragic love story with never heard of renditions of this generation's popular numbers. The next move was to supersize the score and truly transform the show into a “a modern retelling of Moulin Rouge”, as the creators call it. The product, as viewed on the actual stage, was a great combination of unsurpassed medleys, mash-ups, and numbers. Though the Broadway play keeps some of the 2001 picture's beloved tracks including Lady Marmalade, the hit musical now performs current songs from more recent years including Lady Gaga’s Bad Romance, Beyonce’s Single Ladies, and Britney Spears’ Toxic among so many other pop songs.
