Imagine attending a garden party in 1791. There’s a mysterious flute that has incredible instantaneous magic. The Magic Flute is Tamino’s most prized possession. He goes on a daring journey to say the kidnapped Princess Pamina. But rescuing her is not the end of the mission. Together, they have to face many trials and tribulations. Moreover, they must go head-to-head with Pamina’s mother’s tremendous wrath. It’s a fairytale like no other, but like many beloved stories, The Magic Flute will show that light overcomes darkness. Pamina and her hero, Tamino, find their path, freedom, and love.

It’s like a storybook you can experience! The Magic Flute provides groundbreaking visual and aural entertainment. For this production, the Vancouver Opera has pulled all the stops. The company has brought in an excellent creative team, comprising director Diane Paulus, set and costume designer Myung Hee Cho, and lighting designer Scott Zielinski. Tania Miller will serve as the official conductor for the symphony, while Ashlie Corcoran will serve as the revival director.
