WAY DOWN WE GO TOUR

KALEO just announced the “WAY DOWN WE GO TOUR,” celebrating 10 years of their iconic debut album “A/B.” When it all began as they rocked out to “All the Pretty Girls” in 2014, and released the iconic single “Way Down We Go” a year later, the band skyrocketed with critical acclaim. With the press taking quick notice, they were frequently cited among the top bands you had to listen to throughout 2015. This year, the band led by lead vocalist and guitarist Jökull Júlíusson is celebrating 10 years since their full debut LP “A/B” came out in 2016. With a slew of shows booked across North America, it’s a full-on party as they revisit the best of A/B + favorites from Surface Sounds and Mixed Emotions.

“It’s hard to believe it’s been 10 years since A/B came out. To celebrate, we’re excited to announce the Way Down We Go Tour. We’ll be bringing out an all-new show, performing the songs from A/B plus favorites from Surface Sounds and MIXED EMOTIONS,” KALEO shared in an Instagram post.

“ALL THE PRETTY GIRLS” THAT MADE IT POSSIBLE

It all began when elementary school best friends Jökull Júlíusson, David Antonsson, and Daniel Kristjansson began a jamming sesh in 2017. By 2012, lead guitarist Rubin Pollock joined the gang that would soon become KALEO. Named after the Hawaiian word for “the voice,” it surely became clear how Júlíusson’s soulful voice shines and mesmerizes the crowd. The band steadily gained attention as they performed in music festivals in Iceland.

In 2014, their song “All The Pretty Girls” went viral, especially among listeners in the U.S. Signing a deal with Atlantic Records and relocating to Austin, Texas, the band didn’t hold back from working hard on what would become “A/B.” In 2015, they released the single “Way Down We Go,” subsequently earning massive praise from critics and listeners — promptly expanding their fanbase.

Esquire listed them as one of “40 Bands You Need to Hear,” featured in NPR’s “The Austin 100: SXSW 2015,” and All Songs Considered's “SXSW 2015 Music Preview.”

Gaining Gold and multi-Platinum certifications in several countries, including Canada, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Germany, and more, they were among the hottest rising stars in the rock music scene. A/B also peaked at #16 on the Billboard 200, an impressive achievement for a rock band’s debut release.
