Unravel life and all its comedic intricacies in An Evening with David Sedaris on Tuesday, May 14th, at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre! Prior to a long-awaited overseas outing, the celebrated humorist will visit 36 North American cities to engage audiences in an hour and a half of extensive discourse. Sedaris will examine the human condition in rewardingly humorous ways, drawing subjects from the collective pool of his published and unpublished literature, which may feature the Thurber Prize-winning “Me Talk Pretty One Day” and New York Times Bestsellers “Naked,” “When You Are Engulfed in Flames,” and “Happy Go Lucky.” The event will also include a 30-minute Q&A session for a chance to pick the brain of the American Academy of Arts and Letters inductee, as well as book signing segments before and after the presentation. An Evening with David Sedaris will feature the titular author in 90 minutes of uninterrupted discourse, pulling talking points from both published and unpublished material alike, which may include topics from his latest work, “Happy Go Lucky.” In addition, the event will engage the audience in a riveting half-hour Q&A session, with segments before and after the show dedicated to book signing.
Glimpse eloquent insights from the writer behind “Me Talk Pretty One Day,” the acclaimed collection of essays that won the prestigious Thurber Prize for American Humor in 2001. Drawing from his decades-spanning body of work, David Sedaris will catch your fascination and tickle you out of breath through biting satire and creative social commentary. Among his most raved publications include New York Times Bestsellers “Holidays on Ice,” “When You Are Engulfed in Flames,” and the Randy Shilts Award winner “Naked.” Sedaris also produced the “Live at Carnegie Hall” and “Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim” audio records, both receiving nominations from the GRAMMY Awards. In 2019, he was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters for his autobiographical contributions to literature.
