Located right in the heart of Vancouver, The Lizzy Theatre is known for eclectic events that happen on any given night when we’re looking for songs and stories that are going to make us laugh, cry and everything in between. And this time around, we’re busting out all the stops for our Spring 2026 season: a classic story that stands the test of time, our very own showstopping Opera, and a slice of Paris even all the way here on the west coast. We’re bringing La Boheme to the stage for a night of smoky 1830s hazy nights - and we’re so excited to see you here in the crowd smoking a Vogue at La Rouge right here with us! Taking place over three nights here in late April - these tickets are for the FINAL show of the run, Sunday April 26th! First premiered in 1896, La Bohème is a classic opera that is known for its powerful emotional themes and extravagance even through stories of poverty and love loss. Created by the Italian composer Giacomo Puccini, this timeless masterpiece follows a group of young artists in the middle of Europe navigating love, friendship, poverty and loss in 19th-century Paris. At the core of the story is the tender romance between Rodolfo, a struggling poet, and Mimì, a young seamstress. The score was an instant classic, and held as a gold star standard for how to progress an opera while also telling a gut wrenching story. You can connect to any character in the play, and above all - we can see them in ourselves, too. 

The opera will be performed by none other than our very own Vancouver Opera. Founded in 1958, Vancouver’s Opera is Canada’s premier performing arts group and the largest opera company in Western Canada. Based in Vancouver and performing primarily at the iconic Queen Elizabeth Theatre, the company has built a reputation for transient storytelling that puts us in a space of wonder, peace, and deep appreciation for all things opera. They’ve brought world class singers, conductors and creatives together for 75 years, and play a critical role in the country’s cultural landscape. Every piece they perform has fully immersed us, and that’s EXACTLY why you need to see them here when they come to the stage for the next stage in their legacy.
