Laufey

Queen Elizabeth Theatre

Marvel at the music of next-gen jazz virtuoso Laufey at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre’s stunning proscenium stage this Monday, 8th of April! The singer’s Bewitched: The Goddess World Tour adds over twenty North American stops to its itinerary, pushing promotions for the titular sophomore album. The GRAMMY Award-nominated Bewitched dropped last September to universal acclaim, topping the US Jazz Albums chart with the artist’s first Billboard-charting Gold-certified single, "From the Start." A classically trained musician since her teenage years, Laufey aims to shine the spotlight on jazz with her romantic pop-infused ballads. Typical of Me, her debut EP, earned a Top 2 peak in Billboard Jazz and a shoutout from Rolling Stone magazine for its cover of "I Wish You Love." Meanwhile, her first studio record, Everything I Know About Love, was a Top 3 album that listed blushing coming-of-age songs such as "Beautiful Stranger” and “Dear Soulmate.” Seats are limited - click the button above and reserve yours ASAP!

Following a sold-out string of live performances in the UK and Europe, Icelandic-Chinese popstar Laufey adds a North American leg to her Bewitched: The Goddess World Tour. The new extended trip will kick off Monday, April 8, at Vancouver’s Queen Elizabeth Theatre, visiting over 20 other venues across the continent in support of the singer’s latest album.

Our featured act released her second studio record, Bewitched, last September 8, garnering universal acclaim among music critics for its nostalgic spin and technical prowess. It claimed the Billboard Jazz chart’s number-one spot and clinched a Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album nomination for the upcoming 66th GRAMMY Awards. In 14 exquisitely produced tracks, the album showcases Laufey’s seductive voice and anachronistic lyricism — a veritably romantic collection of bold jazz pop ballads.

“Jazz music was created out of wanting to break from the rules and make something new and modern and for the people, and that’s gotten lost into a more ‘educated’ world,” the artist explained in a recent interview. ”I hope I’m doing my part in making jazz and classical music more accessible!”

Born Laufey Lín Jónsdóttir, this Billboard breakout singer-songwriter aims to do for jazz what Taylor Swift has done for country music. Starting as a cellist for the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Laufey would later announce her songful intentions by taking a finalist spot in the 2014 Iceland's Got Talent, followed by a semi-finalist finish on The Voice Iceland a year later. Her 2021 self-published EP, Typical of Me, rose to the Top 2 of the US Jazz chart and was applauded by Rolling Stone magazine for its breezy bossa nova rendition of "I Wish You Love." In 2022, she issued her debut studio album titled Everything I Know About Love. A Billboard Top 3 Jazz record, it presented a sweeping snapshot of coming-of-age romance, flushed with orchestral and acoustic color in hit singles "Beautiful Stranger,” “Dear Soulmate,” and "I've Never Been in Love Before."
