The Broadway version of the famous musical just marked its 25th anniversary. Since its official debut at the New Amsterdam Theatre, the show has set out on 28 tours worldwide, with shows that have been attended by over 110 million audiences.
All is quite familiar with the tale of the charming lion cub Young Simba, that embarks on his exploration on the African grasslands. The animated Disney children's beloved is presented to life on stages internationally, narrating the saga of the animals that genuinely dominate the land in Africa as they battle to survive.
This presentation will showcase life-size lions, leopards, elephants, and giraffes. The actors, many of whom are employing puppets, manipulate costumes that represent a wide range of animals. Some of the performers stride beneath or alongside the puppets, while others completely embody their characters.
The New York Times reveals that over the show's 2 hours and 40 minutes, there will be numerous cases of "stunning beauty and innovative set design that is accomplished via imaginative methods ranging from shadow puppetry to Bunraku."
